Tips on helping consumers get ready for open enrollment!

If you are helping a consumer who is looking for QHP coverage for 2017, they cannot submit an application or enroll in a plan until open enrollment begins on November 1. However, there are other steps they can take to get a head start on the process!

Here are things you can do before November 1 with new consumers:

  • Help them set up an online account with MNsure

  • Have them associate with you through the assister portal

  • Assist them with researching their 2017 plan options using Consumers’ Checkbook

Here are things you can do before November 1 with renewing consumers:

  • Make sure they know their log-in information for their MNsure account

  • Have them associate with you through the assister portal

  • Assist them with researching their 2017 plan options using Consumers’ Checkbook

  • Help them report any changes to their household information by calling the MNsure Contact Center or using the /current-customers/manage-account/report-change/index.jsponline reporting tool

Consumers who are looking for 2016 QHP coverage because of a /new-customers/enrollment-deadlines/special-enrollment/index.jspspecial enrollment period can apply online before November 1. Once open enrollment starts, consumers who are looking for 2016 QHP coverage must contact the MNsure Contact Center.  Consumers who want to apply for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare can submit an application ANY time either prior to or during open enrollment.
