Update: New Information about Enrollment Options for Public Program Enrollees

3/3/2017 10:20:28 AM

As of May 1, 2017, Medica will no longer be a health plan option for families and children in Medical Assistance (MA) and MinnesotaCare. A person in one of these programs who gets health care through Medica must choose a new plan for May 1, 2017. Please see last week’s announcement, Special Health Plan Enrollment Period for Public Program Enrollees with Medica for further details.

DHS is sharing two documents to help assisters understand this process:

  • /assets/May-2017-PMAP-MCRE-MCO-County-Defaults-Identified_tcm34-282396.pdf2017 Special Enrollment Period: Plans by County (PDF) shows the plans available in each county for enrollees and indicates the default plan for consumers who do not select a plan by the April 14 deadline
  • /assets/2017-Special-Enrollment-Period-Plan-Enrollment-Caps-Restrictions_tcm34-282397.pdf2017 Special Enrollment Period: Plan Enrollment Caps and Restrictions (PDF) lists the counties in which there are plans that have limits or restrictions on the number of transitioning and/or new enrollees they will accept during the special enrollment period.
