Renew (Keep Same Plan)
The 2019 open enrollment period begins on November 1, 2018, and runs through January 13, 2019. Open enrollment is the only time of year you can renew private plan coverage.
Watch your mail: MNsure will mail renewal notices with information about how to renew private coverage.
If Your Plan is Still Available
If you would like to keep your same plan as this year, and if it is still offered on MNsure, you do not need to take any action on your MNsure account. MNsure will automatically renew you into your current health and/or dental insurance plan at the 2019 premium amount, with an updated tax credit, if that is available to you.
You will continue to receive an invoice from your insurance company and must continue to make payments to them to maintain coverage. To ensure your coverage is renewed, you must respond promptly to any requests for additional information.
NOTE: If your plan is available in 2019, some features may change, like network, deductibles and co-pays. Be sure to review the summary of benefits and coverage (SBC) for your plan before you renew. You can find SBCs for all plans offered on MNsure with our plan comparison tool. If you have questions about your plan, call your insurance company.
If Your Plan is No Longer Available
If you would like to keep your same plan but it is no longer offered on MNsure, your insurance company will automatically enroll you in that same plan if it is still available (outside MNsure) and you will not receive any financial help. Because of this we strongly encourage you to come back to MNsure at the start of open enrollment and compare plans to ensure you are getting the best deal and the best coverage for your family.
