Working with an assister can help simplify the process of filling out an application and enrolling in a plan. Assisters know the process and can guide you through all the steps.
If you give formal permission, an assister is able to start an application for you, resume an application you have started, and submit an application on your behalf. They are also able to help you shop for a plan, apply any tax credits you might be eligible for, and enroll you in a plan.
However, you are still responsible for responding to any notices you may receive and paying any premiums that may be required to start your coverage.

Some consumers may work with a certified application counselor (CAC) rather than a broker or navigator. CACs are also trained and certified by MNsure and commonly work in hospitals and clinics. CACs typically only serve the clients of their organization and are not listed in the Assister Directory.
If you want to give an assister permission to apply or enroll in a plan on your behalf, you use the “Manage Assister” feature in your online account. (You must have an online account on MNsure in order to give an assister formal permission (PDF) so they can act on your behalf.)
To assign an assister to your account, enter the reference number for the MNsure-certified assister who is helping you. The assister will give that number to you when you contact them.
