Enrollment Guide for New Customers Living in Certain Counties
This guide is intended for new customers who live in Benton, Crow Wing, Morrison, Mille Lacs or Stearns county who would like to enroll in 2017 coverage through MNsure. If you live in one of these five counties, a health insurance company has made an exception to their enrollment cap and will continue offering plans to new enrollees.
1. View Plan Options
Use the MNsure Plan Comparison Tool to compare available plans side by side, view associated premiums and see if you might qualify for financial help.
2. Create an Account and Apply
Create a user name and password so you can log into MNsure's online application system. For best results, read the application and enrollment tips on the Account Creation page. (If you already have a MNsure account, do not create a new one. If you forgot your user name or password, see these tips.)
Once you've created an account, log in and submit an application.
3. Enroll in a New Plan
If you qualify for a private plan, call the MNsure Contact Center at 1-855-366-7873 to select from all the plans available to you and to have the correct tax credit amount applied to coverage. Do not complete your enrollment online.
If you qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, do not call the MNsure Contact Center. You will receive information from the Department of Human Services about enrolling in a plan.
4. Pay Your Premium
MNsure does not process any payments. Your insurance company will send you an invoice. You must pay your first month's premium for coverage to start. If you have MinnesotaCare, the Department of Human Services will bill you monthly.
No matter your question, support is available by phone, email, social media or face-to-face in your community.
