ST. PAUL, Minn.—Minnesotans who want private health coverage through the MNsure marketplace beginning January 1 have until midnight on Wednesday, December 20, to complete enrollment at MNsure.org.
“Health coverage is critical for all Minnesotans,” said MNsure CEO Allison O’Toole, “Make sure you and your family are covered for all of 2018. Individuals should enroll by December 20 to ensure they are covered on January 1. Ninety-six percent of Minnesotans are have health care coverage, and those numbers are one of reasons why our state ranks so highly as a top place to live and work.”
To date, 100,000 Minnesotans have successfully enrolled in health care coverage for 2018 through MNsure.

Additionally, the /mets/index.jsponline MNsure marketplace will have extended hours. Beginning Sunday, December 17 at 4 a.m., the marketplace will be open 24 hours a day until midnight on Wednesday, December 20.
MNsure reminds Minnesotans that although the federal open enrollment period ends December 15, MNsure's open enrollment period ends one month later — January 14, 2018.
“Choosing health insurance is not an easy task,” stated O'Toole. “So, MNsure wanted to give Minnesotans a little more time to make the right decision.”
Minnesotans who do not enroll by the December 20 deadline will have until January 14, 2018, to /new-customers/enrollment-deadlines/open-enrollment/index.jspsecure health care coverage for 2018. Those who enroll by January 14, 2018, will have coverage that starts February 1, 2018. It is important to note that consumers must pay their first month's premium on time for their coverage to start on these days.
Application assistance is still available. /help/find-assister/index.jspMNsure-certified navigators and brokers are located state-wide to help Minnesotans apply and enroll. In addition, MNsure's enrollment event calendar offers daily assistance events in numerous cities throughout the state.
The 2018 open enrollment period is November 1, 2017 to January 14, 2018. Ninety-six percent of Minnesotans have health coverage--the highest percentage in state history. This year, an individual earning up to $48,240 a year, or a family of four earning up to $98,400 a year could qualify. More information can be found at mnsure.org.
