ST. PAUL, Minn.—MNsure announced today that consumers can expect competitive rates and an array of quality coverage options through MNsure, Minnesota’s new health insurance marketplace. Premiums for plans on MNsure are some of the lowest in the country and many Minnesotans will save even more through financial help they can only get through MNsure.
“MNsure is pleased to offer Minnesotans a wide array of plans with some of the lowest premiums in the country,” said Brian Beutner, Chair, MNsure Board of Directors. “For many Minnesotans, financial help through MNsure will mean that they will be able to afford health care coverage for the first time.”
Plans sold through MNsure will offer high-quality coverage that will include prescription drugs, maternity, preventative visits and hospitalization, among others.
“Minnesotans in every corner of the state, regardless of income, age or medical history, will be able to choose from multiple plans to find the coverage that is right for them,” said April Todd-Malmlov, Executive Director of MNsure.
Tax credits are also available through MNsure for businesses that meet certain criteria to help cover the cost of providing insurance to their employees. Small businesses will also be able to provide individualized options to their employees so they can pick the coverage that is right for them and their family.
Cost ranges for different incomes and plans will be featured on MNsure’s website. Consumers will also be able to see how many insurance plans will be available in their county of residence.
Beginning January 1, 2014, all U.S. citizens and legal residents will be required by the federal government to have health insurance coverage. For those Minnesotans who are uninsured, underinsured or looking for new coverage choices, MNsure is a one-stop health insurance marketplace where individuals, families and small businesses will be able to get quality health coverage at a fair price.
MNsure will empower more than 1 million Minnesotans to compare, choose and get help finding health care coverage. MNsure will facilitate enrollment in public and private health insurance, determine eligibility for premium tax credits and allow Minnesotans to shop and compare between health care coverage options.
Open enrollment through MNsure begins October 1, 2013 and runs through March 31, 2014. For more information about MNsure, how it will benefit Minnesota consumers and businesses and how to provide input visit MNsure.org
