As of May 1, 2017, MNsure now processes all consumer voluntary requests for qualified health and dental plan terminations. MNsure’s carrier partners no longer accept voluntary terminations via consumer request and instead refer those consumers to MNsure.
Terminations no longer follow the 15/16 rule. A consumer may request to terminate coverage prospectively for the last day of the month at any point during that month. For example:
MNsure is referring any consumer questions regarding their billing or premiums in connection with the termination request to the carrier.
Brokers may contact the Broker Service Line to assist a consumer with a voluntary termination request. With the consumer present, navigators and CACs may contact the ARC to assist a consumer with a voluntary termination request.
