The /new-customers/apply/prepare/esi-tool.jspEmployer Insurance Affordability Estimator will help families determine if their employer-sponsored coverage is considered unaffordable. Changes to federal law in 2023 fixed the “family glitch” which means family members of Minnesotans who are offered employer-sponsored health insurance which is determined to be unaffordable may have new opportunities to access subsidized coverage through MNsure, even if they weren’t eligible before.

If you are working with a family that may benefit from this change, have the consumer complete an Appendix A (Health Coverage from Jobs) which now collects information about family coverage.
