Change Plan

You can change plans during open enrollment by logging in to your online account at, and selecting and enrolling in a plan for you or your family. You do not have to fill out a new application.

To have your new insurance coverage start on January 1, you must enroll by December 15. Although you can change plans any time after December 15 through the end of the open enrollment period, those changes would be applied going forward -- they are not retroactive . For example, if you enroll in a plan on December 29, your new coverage will start on February 1.

If you are currently enrolled in a private health plan (qualified health plan), use the following steps to change your plan after open enrollment begins:

  1. Estimate savings and compare plans before you log in to your account.
  2. Log in to your account on or after November 1. Do not create a new account.
  3. Choose a plan.
  4. Enroll in the plan and sign.
  5. Pay the first month's premium to your insurance company when you receive an invoice. You will not have coverage unless you complete this step.

Remember to keep your account up to date by reporting income and household changes as soon as possible.
