ST. PAUL, Minn.-Representatives from MNsure will visit Farmfest in Redwood County on Wednesday, August 5, to talk with individuals, families and small business owners about health insurance and the potential cost saving opportunities available through MNsure. MNsure will again be hosted by the Minnesota Farmers Union.

"Farmfest is the largest outdoor farm show in the state," said interim CEO Allison O'Toole. "We're looking forward to getting out and addressing questions and concerns from the rural community about their health insurance options."

Since 2014, individual asset testing is no longer considered when determining eligibility for low-cost or no-cost health insurance options. This means farmers previously determined ineligible for financial help due to land or equipment assets may now qualify for a substantial cost savings.

"Agriculture is a major industry in this state, and we know that a large number of farmers in Minnesota are purchasing individual coverage," said interim CEO Allison O'Toole. "We want to make sure these folks know about the cost saving benefits available only through MNsure so they can either shop on their own, or work with a MNsure-certified broker, to find a health insurance plan that meets their needs and budget."
