How to prepare for a successful meeting with a consumer. See also the Renewals section for information about helping renewing consumers.
Understanding MNsure
If the consumer is applying for the first time, ask them to review some basic information on MNsure.org:
- What is MNsure?
- This MNsure Myths video explains the difference between MNsure, MinnesotaCare and Medical Assistance. It will help consumers understand that MNsure is not an insurance company, and who they should call if they need help in the future. They may need to contact their county office, tribal agency, health plan or DHS (not MNsure or a MNsure assister).

- Basic steps to apply and enroll through MNsure.
Assister Resource Pages
Assisters should become familiar with this information as it can be used before, during and after meetings with consumers.
- MNsure fact sheets and other marketing materials: should be ready for meetings with consumers or can be provided to consumers where needed.
- Plan comparison tool: used to compare and review plans available through MNsure.
- Income guidelines: provides a quick estimate on whether a consumer qualifies for financial assistance.
