MNsure Consumer Alert

7/31/2020 7:18:13 AM

On July 28, MNsure issued a Consumer Alert which contained helpful tips for consumers to make sure that they are buying comprehensive insurance coverage through MNsure. Consumers searching for MNsure may see ads and websites that appear to be the official MNsure website but are not. Some of these sites collect contact information and either bombard individuals with phone calls or try to sell sub-standard health insurance. We want to make sure that MNsure assisters are also aware of these helpful tips.

  • Check the website URL: make sure you’re clicking on MNsure.org when using a search engine or simply type https://www.mnsure.org into your address bar.
  • Be sure you’re buying comprehensive coverage: All plans sold on MNsure.org are Affordable Care Act-compliant, meaning they include /shop-compare/about-plans/esb/index.jspessential health benefits and /shop-compare/about-plans/consumer-protections/index.jspconsumer protections. MNsure does not sell short-term limited duration health plans or association health plans.
  • Confirm you are getting the financial help you are eligible for: MNsure.org is the ONLY place for Minnesotans to access all the /financial-help/index.jspfinancial benefits that can make your health insurance more affordable.
  • Protect your private information: MNsure will never call you and ask you for your Social Security number, credit card or bank account number. To learn more about protecting yourself against fraud, and how to report suspected fraud, reach out to /help/fraud/index.jspMNsure's anonymous complaints telephone line or email.
