DHS will mail January MA and MinnesotaCare Renewals and Renewal Reminders

10/27/2023 10:21:26 AM

DHS is in the process of mailing January Medical Assistance (MA) and MinnesotaCare renewals.

To assist with getting renewals to the right place the first time and avoid delays caused by the need to transfer the renewal to another processing agency, please send METS renewals to the following agency:

  • MA only renewals to the county
  • Mixed MA and MinnesotaCare renewals to Health Care Consumer Support (HCCS)
  • MinnesotaCare only renewals to HCCS
  • Modified need to renew (MNTR) renewals to HCCS

Renewal reminders:

  • Approximately 30% of both the MA and MinnesotaCare renewals in this cohort auto renewed and only need to review their auto renew notice and return it if there are changes.
  • Do not return the Need to Renew form (DHS-8262) for enrollees who are not due for a renewal or for enrollees who received the auto renew notice.
  • Navigators are NOT eligible for payment for assisting consumers with auto renew status, even if they need to report a change. To receive payment for assisting a consumer in need to renew status, a navigator must complete the online case association form. Please review the /assister-central/navigator-one-stop/policy-procedures/navigator-payment-policy.jspNavigator Payment Policy for more information.
  • If you are working with an enrollee, ensure every question on the renewal is completed and it is signed. Unanswered questions can cause delays.
  • If enrollees no longer need their Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, they can call the county, tribe or HCCS to request their coverage be closed.

DHS will provide more MinnesotaCare renewal related information at the next statewide navigator call on Wednesday, November 1.
