Navigator Tip of the Week: Best Practices in Working with Consumers

The ARC has seen a rise in data privacy concerns, prompting the need for careful considerations when interacting with consumers. The following are helpful reminders for working with consumers and contacting the ARC with consumers:

  • It is essential to verify the identity of the consumer you are assisting by collecting their personal identifiers prior to making a call to the ARC.
  • Remember that the ARC can only provide information regarding the application of the consumer present with you, so avoid inquiring about unrelated cases, such as those of other family members.  
  • If you need to discuss multiple cases with the ARC, a consumer cannot be on the call with you.
  • Double check that the user ID you are using corresponds with the consumer you are assisting with an application. 
  • MNsure has noticed an increase in issues related to Minnesota residency and incorrect deceased status. Before submitting their application, have the consumer carefully review it to ensure all answers are accurate.
