Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (BCBS) and Blue Plus received a contract termination letter from Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota earlier this spring. BCBS/Blue Plus continues to negotiate with Children's Hospitals and Clinics to reach an agreement. However, if no agreement is reached, then as of July 5, 2017, Children's Hospitals and Clinics will no longer be an in-network provider for BCBS and Blue Plus plans.
This action will impact all customers reliant on BCBS and Blue Plus networks and utilizing Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, whether enrolled in Medical Assistance (MA), MinnesotaCare, or a qualified health plan.
BCBS has provided an FAQ regarding the contract termination on their website.
Also, Blue Plus recently sent /assets/Blue-Plus-Letter-Childrens-and-Special-Needs_May-8-2017_tcm34-295396.pdfa letter to MA and MinnesotaCare members enrolled in Blue Plus who have recently visited Children's with special health care needs. The letter explains that a Blue Plus nurse guide will be calling them to help with their health care needs. It directs people with questions to Blue Plus Member Services.
