To meet eligibility and enrollment demands, best use eligibility workers’ expertise, and provide one point of contact for all Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) customers, we are transitioning toward the elimination of the MinnesotaCare phone number and use of a single phone number for all MHCP customers: the MHCP Member Help Desk number (800-657-3739 or 651-431-2670).
The MHCP Member Help Desk provides assistance and support for the more than 1.4 million members of Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP). MHCP includes Medical Assistance (MA), MinnesotaCare and other similar programs.
Beginning July 26, the MinnesotaCare phone line will be rerouted to the MHCP Member Help Desk. In the near future, we will also begin replacing the MinnesotaCare phone number with the MHCP Member Help Desk number on all online and printed materials.
The MHCP Member Help Desk is the designated resource for all MHCP applicants and enrollees*. The help desk will triage calls and, if the calls are about eligibility determination or premium payment resolution, escalate them to MinnesotaCare eligibility workers via a CRM ticket. All help desk staff members have received robust training and will receive continued support to ensure a smooth transition.
The MHCP Member Help Desk will continue to transfer calls about specific MA case issues to county and tribal agencies.
*Note: DHS uses the term “member” instead of “enrollee” in communications with MHCP enrollees.
