New Appeals Functionality Brings Changes to METS

9/13/2018 3:35:39 PM

MNsure contracts with DHS to provide a neutral and independent review of MNsure’s appeals. Over the past several months, MNsure, the Department of Human Services (DHS) and Minnesota Information Technology Services (MNIT) and other stakeholders have been developing new functionality to improve the way agency appeals are tracked and processed at DHS.

The Enterprise Appeals Solution (EAS) will improve the appeals experience by automating the ability to access and upload documents and appeals-related correspondence online. The appeals request form is also being updated to accommodate non-healthcare appeals users in the Minnesota Eligibility Technology System (METS). The EAS should go live in METS in mid-September and MNsure is participating in a pilot of the new appeals functionality, which will begin later this fall.

The impact of the new EAS depends on whether you represent your clients in their appeal or just file the appeal on their behalf. Training and instructional materials for assisters using the new functionality is expected soon. Look for more communications about these instructional materials.

The EAS project also brings broader updates to METS. All METS users will notice updates to the look and feel of METS.

  • The MNsure logo is being replaced with the State of Minnesota logo.
  • There is a new account type for users who are only using METS to file an appeal (and not apply for health coverage).
  • Additionally, the appeals form available in METS will be updated.
