Beginning with December renewals, mailed in late September, DHS will suspend the use of Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) wage and unemployment data in the METS renewal process. METS will continue to use electronic income data from the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration and TALX to redetermine and verify Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare income eligibility at renewal. Additionally, processing entities will continue to request paper verification and documentation from members as appropriate.
METS will also continue to use DEED data to populate the online application, and to verify wage and unemployment income at application.
We hope that this will reduce confusion for our members and for those who support them in completing the renewal process. We will analyze the use of electronic data sources, including DEED, for income eligibility and verification in an upcoming IT project. We will provide additional information when the project begins.
