Children of MNsure Navigators Qualify for Free Daycare as Families of Emergency Workers

3/18/2020 11:42:26 AM

On March 15, Governor Tim Walz’s Emergency Executive Order 20-02 closed Minnesota schools until at least March 27. During the closure period, school districts are directed to provide care to, at a minimum, district-enrolled students aged 12 and under who are children of emergency workers. Schools are not required to provide this care during previously scheduled breaks reflected on a school-board approved calendar.

Guidance issued on March 17 clarified that MNsure navigators are considered healthcare personnel in Tier 1 of Emergency Workers. Navigators requiring this childcare benefit should contact their school district to find out how to apply. If an individual requires verification that they are a certified MNsure navigator and cannot obtain this verification from their employer, send an email to the Assister Resource Center at navigators@mnsure.org. Please be sure to include your full name and Assister ID.
