Consumers may qualify for free federal and state income tax preparation assistance through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and AARP Tax- Aide programs.

Consumers can generally get help through VITA if any of the following apply:

• Individuals age 60 or older
• Individuals with a disability
• Individuals who speak limited or no English
• Individuals with an annual income of less than $67,000

AARP Tax-Aide does not have income or age restrictions.
