New Consumer Account Functionality for SEP during OE

12/29/2022 1:15:29 PM

New customer account functionality is available that will allow unenrolled consumers to report a special enrollment period (SEP) during open enrollment. This functionality will only display for applicable households that have not enrolled for 2023 and will enable consumers to self-report qualifying life events (QLEs) that may deem them eligible for coverage start date earlier than 2/1/2023.

If a consumer has a life event that would qualify them for a coverage date before 2/1/2023, these are the steps that they should take:

  1. Go into plan shopping and under the 2023 tab click on “Confirm Life Event.”
  2. Select the life event that has occurred from the drop-down menu and the date it occurred and click “Continue.”
  3. Once the system determines that the event and event date are valid, the consumer will either be prompted to “Upload Documents” or “Shop for Plans.”

Note: Standard SEP rules apply. If a consumer enters an event date that is more than 60 days in the past, the system will deny the QLE and return the consumer to their dashboard. Once a SEP has been awarded, it will remain open through the end of the open enrollment period.
