Updates to the DHS Renewal Webpage, Reminders and Notices

4/27/2023 2:36:02 PM

The Department of Human Services has created a one-stop shop for Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare enrollees with all the information they need about how to keep their insurance on the Renew My Coverage webpage. There, enrollees can sign up for email updates to get the latest news.

The Renew My Coverage webpage has been refreshed with new tools launching today and in the coming weeks, making it easier for Minnesotans to keep their health insurance as annual eligibility renewals resume in public health care programs. New information available on the website:

  • “Watch for the circle in blue when it’s time to renew." A new envelope design will help renewal paperwork stand out better in mailboxes. Envelopes are now marked with a blue circle saying “Important information enclosed”.
  • Submit documents online. For the first time, enrollees on public health care programs will be able to skip the postage and upload their annual eligibility renewal documents online. Enrollees can also submit renewal paperwork by mail, fax, phone or dropping it off at their county or Tribal office.
  • Additional upcoming features. Soon enrollees will be able to use a new renewal date lookup tool to know when to watch for their renewal information in the mail and will be able to sign up to receive text messages when it’s time to fill out and submit their renewal paperwork.

Assisters can help spread the word about consumers needing to update contact information using customizable assets from DHS’ communications toolkit. The most important thing enrollees can do now to prepare for their renewal is to update their contact information.

Renewal information will be mailed in monthly waves to enrollees each month for the next 12 months. Most enrollees will need to return a renewal form, however, some enrollees may remain eligible for coverage based on available information. In those cases, coverage will be automatically renewed and enrollees should watch for an automatic renewal notice.

  • View a sample renewal form that most enrollees will receive to complete.
  • View a sample notice that enrollees get if their coverage automatically renews and they do not have to complete a renewal form.

Sample renewal forms for all enrollee populations will be posted to the Renew My Coverage communications toolkit in coming weeks.

Learn about what enrollees should do when they receive their notice in the mail at How to Renew.
