Consumers whose MA or MinnesotaCare coverage ended during the final unwinding renewal process and have been determined eligible to purchase a qualified health plan (QHP) through MNsure should have received a notice informing them of their eligibility for special enrollment period (SEP), next steps to enroll, how to get help and QHP selection date deadlines with associated coverage effective dates. 

Important deadlines are approaching for consumers in the final unwinding renewal cohort whose public program coverage effective June 1, 2024.

August 29, 2024, is the final date to take advantage of MNsure’s Time-Limited Continuous Coverage Unwinding SEP to select a QHP with coverage effective for September 1.

Consumers in the final unwinding cohort also qualify for an additional month of SEP coverage under MNsure’s Loss of Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare Extension SEP. This SEP affords unwinding public program consumers additional time to select a QHP. The deadline for this SEP is as follows:

• 8/31/24 – last day to select a QHP and receive QHP coverage effective for 9/1/24.
• 9/30/24 – last day to select a QHP and receive QHP coverage effective for 10/1/24.
