There is a new special enrollment period for individuals who are losing their Medical Assistance (MA) or MinnesotaCare (MCRE) coverage which grants them additional time to select a policy when they are eligible to enroll in a qualified health plan (QHP) due to the loss of MA or MCRE coverage. They can enroll in a QHP through the last day of the month, four months after their last day of MA or MCRE coverage. For example, if the consumer’s last day of MA coverage was August 31, the consumer can enroll through the end of the day on December 31.

Normal coverage effective dates for a loss of minimum essential coverage special enrollment period apply.
