DHS has submitted a request to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to delay disenrollment due to administrative reasons (such as failure to return paperwork) for one month.

Who this delay would apply to: The first group of METS MA enrollees due for renewal (the July cohort of families with children and adults).

What it means for enrollees: Instead of having their cases closed on July 1, MA enrollees scheduled to lose coverage due to missing paperwork will remain open for an additional month (until Aug. 1). However, enrollees who have been determined ineligible for coverage will still lose MA coverage on July 1.

What it means for assisters: Please encourage the enrollees you work with to get their renewal paperwork turned in right away. About 39,000 people, or 22,000 households, with a July renewal date have yet to turn in their renewal paperwork and are receiving /assets/July-2023-Coverage-Extension-and-Coverage-Closure-Notice_tcm34-582905.pdfnotices that their coverage is closing. DHS wants these Medical Assistance enrollees to know that they should still submit their renewal paperwork, even if the extension is approved by CMS, and they need to do it ASAP.
