End Private Coverage

Note: Once you end (terminate) private coverage through MNsure, you may not be able to re-enroll until the next annual open enrollment period (unless you qualify for a special enrollment period).

To terminate coverage for any members enrolled in a private plan, follow the steps on the Cancel or Disenroll page.

Gaining employer coverage? If you call us to terminate coverage you have through MNsure because you are gaining coverage through an employer, please have your employer identification number (EIN) and employer's address available.

How do I confirm my insurance company will no longer bill me for coverage after I have requested that my coverage is terminated?
When will my coverage end?

You can request to terminate your coverage at any time. In most cases, your coverage will end at the end of the month in which you request to terminate the coverage. For example, if you call on May 14 and request to terminate your coverage, you remain covered through the month of May and your last day of coverage would be May 31.

To avoid an overlap in coverage or to get the soonest termination date available, take immediate action.

If you need your coverage to end sooner than the end of the month, you must indicate that in your request when you call us.
