Be sure you have all of the information needed (see the list on this page) for each person in your household ready and available before you begin your application. You will not be able to make changes or corrections once you submit your application.
Create a user name and password to log into MNsure's online application system. You will use this same account each time you renew or change your coverage. To avoid errors, don't use spaces in your entries on the account creation form. If you already have a MNsure account, do not create a new one.See these account creation tips and how to reset your user name or password.
Two versions of the application are available: one with and one without financial help. Apply for health coverage with financial help to see if you qualify for tax credits, MinnesotaCare or Medical Assistance. Apply for health coverage without financial help if you know you don't qualify for help or if you would rather pay full price for a private plan. Complete the application from start to finish in one sitting. To ensure the best experience, do not Save and Exit and come back later to pick up where you left off. Find more application tips here.
You will receive enrollment instructions based on if you qualify for a private health plan, Medical Assistance (MA) or MinnesotaCare. If you are enrolling in a private plan, you can pick your plan and enroll online. If you qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, the Department of Human Services will send you information about the plan options available to you in the following weeks. Find more enrollment tips here.
Please note that it takes 24 hours for your enrollment information to be logged into our system. Before calling our Contact Center with questions about your enrollment, please wait at least 24 hours after submitting your online enrollment.
Make a Payment
Depending on your plan, either your insurance company or MinnesotaCare will bill you monthly. You must pay your first month's premium for coverage to start. Medical Assistance enrollees do not pay monthly premiums.
