Renew (Keep Same Plan)

Open enrollment is the only time of year you can renew private health coverage. The 2025 open enrollment period is November 1, 2024, to January 15, 2025.

Shop and Compare

We strongly encourage renewing customers to shop and compare plans to ensure they are getting the best deal and coverage for their family:

  • If you are currently enrolled in a private plan through MNsure, you may be automatically renewed into that plan for next year. To see if you are automatically renewed, sign in to your MNsure account and review your notifications.
  • Plan features change year to year, like network, deductibles and co-pays. Be sure to review the summary of benefits and coverage (SBC) for your plan. Note that plan names may also change. Use the plan crosswalk to see if your plan name has changed.
  • Expanded benefits continue to be available through MNsure due to enhancements to the Affordable Care Act.
  • A change to a health care rule makes more families eligible for lower-cost health coverage.

To ensure your plan is renewed, you must continue to make payments to your insurance company and respond promptly to any requests for additional information. Check your MNsure account inbox and review your notices for more information on actions you may need to take.

NOTE: If you decide you want to change your plan after it has been renewed, you can do that at any time during the open enrollment period. You must make the change by December 18 for coverage to start January 1, 2025, or by January 15 for coverage to start February 1, 2025.

Keep Your Account Updated

Remember to keep your account up to date by reporting income and other household changes as soon as possible. Certain life changes can make you eligible for a special enrollment period.
