Each rated health plan has an overall quality rating, called the "Global Score," of one to five stars (five is the highest rating), which accounts for member experience, medical care, and health plan administration.
Member experience: Based on surveys of member satisfaction with:
Their health care and doctors
Ease of getting appointments and services
Medical care: Based on how well the plan’s network of health care providers manage member health care, including:
Providing regular screenings, vaccines and other basic health services
Monitoring some conditions
Plan administration: Based on how well the health plan is run, including:
Access to needed information
Appropriate tests and treatments are ordered by the plan’s network of health care providers
Note: Plan quality ratings and enrollee survey results are calculated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) using data provided by health plans in 2021.
