Change in Eligibility for Tax Credits

You may qualify for a special enrollment period (SEP) if you are a current MNsure enrollee and:

  • You are now eligible for an advanced premium tax credit (APTC) or cost-sharing reductions (CSR), or
  • You are now ineligible for APTC or CSR.

You or your dependents must be currently enrolled in a qualified health plan through MNsure. Changes in the existing amount of APTC or CSR will not qualify for a SEP.

Key Dates

  • 60-day SEP begins: Date of your change in eligibility or determination notice.
  • When you can enroll: During the 60-day window of your SEP, after we verify your qualifying life event.
  • When coverage starts: The first day of the month after your plan selection date.
