A special enrollment period (SEP) is available to people who are no longer eligible for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare. This is an opportunity for you to sign up for private health insurance, and you must act quickly.
Read the notice that MNsure sent to you in the mail saying that you qualify for this special enrollment period and are eligible to buy a private health plan (also known as a qualified health plan)
The headline on the notice is, "Don't risk a gap in your health insurance: Take action today to get coverage in 2023."
If you lost your notice, call the MNsure Contact Center at 651-539-2099 (855-366-7873 outside the Twin Cities).
Follow the instructions on your notice. It tells you the steps to take to enroll online during your special enrollment period.
You must choose a plan by the deadline on your notice.
The date your coverage starts depends on when you select a plan. To avoid a gap in coverage, act early and sign up for a plan as soon as you receive your notice from MNsure.
Private health plans may be new to you. Learn more about the differences between private health plans and Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare and how to use your new coverage in Your Guide to Private Coverage through MNsure.
