Special Enrollment Period (SEP)
A special enrollment period (SEP) is a period of time when you can enroll in a private health plan or change enrollment to another private plan if you experience a qualifying life event, like having a baby, getting married, moving to a new area, or losing other health coverage.
If you qualify for a SEP, you usually have up to 60 days following the event to enroll in a plan. If you miss that window, you have to wait until the next open enrollment period.
Has your income changed because of COVID-19? You may have new options for enrolling in coverage or increased financial help toward paying for your current plan.
