Enrollment Error

You may qualify for a special enrollment period (SEP) if your situation fits one or more of these scenarios.

Agency Error

If you believe that inaction or action by MNsure or your navigator or broker caused an error on your enrollment, or caused you to be unable to enroll, then you might be eligible for a special enrollment period (SEP) to enroll or change plans. You have 60 days from when the error occurred to report the error to MNsure.

Key Dates

  • SEP begins: Date on which MNsure determines you qualify. Your SEP lasts 30 days from that date.
  • When you can enroll: Any time during the window of your SEP once your qualifying life event is verified.
  • When coverage starts: Coverage may start the date coverage would have started without the error, inaction or misconduct; or the first of the month following plan selection.

Verification Documents

This life event requires you provide documentation from an appropriate regulatory agency as determined by MNsure on a case-by-case basis.

Violation of Qualified Health Plan Terms and Conditions

As an enrollee or a dependent you may qualify if you demonstrate to MNsure a violation of the terms and conditions of your qualified health plan.

Key Dates

  • 60-day SEP begins: Date on which MNsure determines you qualify.
  • When you can enroll: Case-by-case basis.
  • When coverage starts: MNsure will work with the insurance company to correct or eliminate the effects of the violation.

Verification Documents

This life event requires you provide documentation from an appropriate regulatory agency as determined by MNsure on a case-by-case basis.
