12/15/2018 10:30:00 AM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ST. PAUL, Minn.—Minnesotans need to enroll by today, December 15 to secure coverage that starts January 1, 2019, and avoid a potential gap in coverage . Those who enroll after today will have coverage that begins February 1. MNsure's open enrollment period runs through January 13—just over four weeks away.

Despite the federal open enrollment period ending today, MNsure's open enrollment period continues approximately a month longer. This ensures Minnesotans have adequate time to shop, compare and enroll into a plan that best fits their needs.

MNsure's /help/contact-us/index.jspContact Center is open until midnight today. All calls in queue at midnight will be answered.

Minnesotans should also be aware that the recent district court decision in Texas on the Affordable Care Act will not affect MNsure’s open enrollment period, their current coverage or their coverage in 2019. Minnesotans should visit the MNsure website or phone our Contact Center to enroll in comprehensive coverage.

After enrolling in a private health plan and paying the first month's premium, individuals will receive a membership package from their insurance carrier with their insurance card and summary of benefits and more detailed information.

MNsure's sixth /new-customers/enrollment-deadlines/open-enrollment/index.jspopen enrollment period runs November 1, 2018, to January 13, 2019, which is approximately a month longer than the federal open enrollment period. Individuals earning up to $48,560 a year, or a family of four earning up to $100,400 a year, could qualify for federal tax credits. Additional income guidelines are available on the MNsure website.
