New Customers
A decrease or loss of income may give you new coverage options through MNsure.
- If you were enrolled in a plan off MNsure and it became unaffordable, you may qualify for a special enrollment period.
- If you lost or are losing coverage through your job, you may qualify for a special enrollment period.
- If your employer stops subsidizing your COBRA premium, you may qualify for a special enrollment period.
- If your decreased income makes you eligible for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, you can apply for coverage at any time.
- When you fill out an application with financial help, you'll get a determination whether you qualify for one of these programs.
Current Customers
A decrease or loss of income may change your eligibility:
- You become newly eligible for an advanced premium tax credit (APTC).
- You become eligible for no- or low-cost coverage through Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare.
- You become eligible for an increased APTC.
- You can change plans or make changes to your current plan because you or someone in your household lost or is losing insurance through a job.
Current customers should report income changes right away. If you wait too long, you may miss out on savings or the option to change plans or make changes to your current plan.
