ST. PAUL, Minn.— MNsure and Minnesota IT Services (MN.IT) are providing an update on what we are seeing today. More than 8,700 Minnesotans have enrolled in health coverage in the last two days. Tens of thousands of Minnesotans are shopping and comparing comprehensive health care coverage.

Online

Thousands of Minnesotans are using the MNsure website to compare plans, shop and enroll in coverage. Since yesterday we have seen 112,000 visits to MNsure.org.

In total, in the last two days, we have seen:

  • More than 8,700 enrollments in health coverage completed (as of 1:30 p.m. today)
  • More than 4,000 sessions or visits on the comparison shopping tool
  • More than 2,500 page views on the Assisters page – demonstrating that Minnesotans are exploring those options
  • More than 6,900 accounts created
  • More than 8,600 applications completed

Contact Center

Yesterday we received more than 50,000 attempts to call the MNsure hotline before 9 a.m., and more than 80,000 attempted calls throughout the day. For contrast, before 9 a.m. today, we have received a total of 1,600 attempted calls to the MNsure hotline, a figure much more aligned with historical experience. We are investigating to determine the nature of yesterday’s high volume of calls. Last night MNsure extended the hours of our Contact Center to 7 p.m., we have done so again today, and will continue to do so through the week. Our Contact Center opened at 8 a.m. today, and these numbers are as of 3 p.m.

  • We have received 4,100 total calls to the Contact Center
  • The average wait time has been 6 minutes
  • Contact Center staff are getting a lot of questions about password resets and general enrollment questions

The 2017 open enrollment period began on November 1, 2016, and ends on January 31, 2017. Minnesotans eligible for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare can enroll year round. As of February 2016, 96 percent of Minnesotans have health coverage—the highest percentage in state history.
