How To Get Prepared for MNsure's Open Enrollment Period

10/10/2018 10:00:00 AM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ST. PAUL, Minn.—Less than a month out from open enrollment, MNsure is recommending consumers get prepared for open enrollment. The Minnesota Department of Commerce announced earlier this month that premiums for health insurance plans sold through MNsure are declining between 7 and 27 percent for 2019.

To prepare Minnesotans for the 2019 open enrollment period, MNsure recommends taking these three simple steps now:

1. Verify your user name and password.
Forgotten user names or passwords can be recovered by using the "Forgot Your Username? or Forgot Your Password? links on the Sign In page.

2. Make sure your account information is up to date.
It's important for enrollees to let MNsure know about any household changes. This could be a new address, changes to income or changes to family size. Updating records will ensure that notices and forms are mailed to the correct address, the amount of financial help you qualify for is correct, and accurate information about available plans is provided.

Account updates should be reported to the /help/contact-us/index.jspMNsure Contact Center in advance of the start of open enrollment by calling 651-539-2099 or 855-366-7873.

3. Schedule an appointment with a MNsure assister.
MNsure has a statewide network of expert assisters (navigators and brokers) who can help you apply, find the best plan and enroll. These assisters are based in communities across Minnesota. After enrolling, assisters can continue to help you with submitting changes to your account, understanding notices, walking you through a renewal and more. Minnesotans can find enrollment education and events in their communities on /help/find-assister/enrollment-events.jspMNsure's new enrollment events calendar.

"These simple steps can ensure Minnesotans are prepared for the start of open enrollment on November 1," said Nate Clark, MNsure CEO. “With premiums declining and in-person assistance available across the state, there are more reasons than ever for Minnesotans to enroll in quality health insurance coverage. MNsure is the only place consumers can get tax credits and save thousands this open enrollment."

In addition to this important groundwork, Minnesotans can begin preliminary "window shopping" for health coverage at www.mnsure.org starting on October 15. MNsure's open enrollment period runs November 1, 2018, through January 13, 2019.

Over 480,000 Minnesotans have accessed coverage through MNsure during the 2018 plan year. More information can be found at mnsure.org.
