FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ST. PAUL, Minn.—As part of the Twin Cities Pride Festival this weekend, three of MNsure’s community partners will be on hand to share information, answer questions, and talk with Minnesotans about the benefits of getting coverage through MNsure, Minnesota’s health insurance marketplace. Face to Face Health & Counseling, Rainbow Health and Planned Parenthood North Central States will be at the festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26, in Loring Park in Minneapolis. A map and list of vendors are available on the Twin Cities Pride website.

A 2020 survey from Rainbow Health reports 16% of LGBTQ Minnesotans may lack health insurance – nearly four times higher than the statewide average uninsured rate. Without insurance, individuals and families may have a harder time accessing the health care they need and can experience worse health outcomes as a result.

“All MNsure plans are guaranteed to cover ten essential health benefits, including doctor’s office visits, prescription drugs and mental health services,” said MNsure CEO Nate Clark. “MNsure is also the only place you can access financial help that reduces the cost of monthly premiums, and most Minnesotans who enroll through MNsure qualify for savings.”

The next open enrollment period – when Minnesotans can sign up to get coverage for 2023 – is scheduled to begin November 1, 2022. Outside of the annual open enrollment period, Minnesotans who experience a life change like having a baby, moving, losing a job, or getting married may be eligible to sign up for coverage through a /new-customers/enrollment-deadlines/special-enrollment/index.jspspecial enrollment period. Minnesotans who meet income requirements or have a disability may qualify for low- or- no-cost health insurance through /financial-help/ma-mncare/index.jspMedical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, and can enroll anytime throughout the year. /new-customers/who-can-enroll/american-indians/index.jspMembers of federally recognized tribes also may enroll through MNsure or change plans year-round.

Free help is always available through MNsure’s /help/find-assister/index.jspstatewide network of health insurance experts who can assist with the application process. MNsure is proud to partner with organizations like Face to Face Health & Counseling, Rainbow Health and Planned Parenthood North Central States that offer inclusive care and support for LGBTQ Minnesotans.

MNsure is Minnesota's health insurance marketplace where individuals and families can shop, compare and choose health insurance coverage that meets their needs. MNsure is the only place you can apply for financial help to lower the cost of your monthly insurance premium and out-of-pocket costs. Most Minnesotans who enroll through MNsure qualify for financial help.
